Big Ben

Formally a garage MC, Big Ben now focuses his talents on the UK Hip Hop scene. His Yorkshire swagga makes him easy to pick out in the various songs he as featured. His latest single, L.E.E.D.S Man, featured in Leeds by Example which was the first track to put the words "Leeds Man" into the guts of the Northern Hip Hop scene.

Big Ben now works along side QB who also featured on the Leeds by Example compilation, focusing on UK Grime and Garage. Although his work is relatively unknown through native Northern Hip Hop circles, his time in Nottingham has gained him a wealth of respect and publicity. We'll be expecting to see more of BB this year on his return to Leeds to record his new album.

Undisclosed

Undisclosed got into Hip Hop at the age of 13 after hearing 36 Chambers. He spent many lessons in high school scribbling rhymes in the back of exercise books and rotten science tables. After Leaving school and starting his drinking hobby which led to spitting freestyles wherever he could - parties, street corners, club toilets, bus stops and taxi ranks.

Over time Undisclosed has developed an admittedly unusual style. He doesn't write in bars or sentences, he writes in paragraphs - chunks of words pieced together which make perfect sense inside his own head.

Dr Knox

Malaki and Wisdomtooth went to primary school together and for that whole time were the best of friends. When Malaki was 13 years old he emigrated with his mum and sisters to Seattle, USA. They ended up losing contact and for many years grew up in very different environments. The main thing that these guys had in common for all this time was indifference to the schooling system. While both were intelligent young men they felt excluded from their surroundings.

Neither of them achieved academic success and soon found themselves wondering where their lives where going. Malaki moved back to the UK a couple of years back and soon hooked up with Wisdomtooth - ever since then they have been working towards their first album iEgo.

Although the style of Dr Knox's music is most easily defined as hip hop, they strive to make music that embodies their own experiences. This has led to a much longer writing process, whilst trying to make some sense of their own live’s through music. The Dr. Knox track Absolute Resolution of Feeling is featured on Leeds By Example
